Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Conduct learning exercises with small groups of students.
• Guide students in developing relationships with peers and adults.
• Supervise pupils in classroom, corridors, yard, restrooms, cafeteria, and on field trips.
• Assist Pre-K to 5th grade students with toileting, dressing, feeding, positioning, and self-care.
• Distribute and collect educational materials.
• With teacher, correct work and assign remediation tasks.
• Operate machines duplicating materials for distribution.
• Help meet personal and physical needs of children under supervision.
• Participate in discipline procedures and implement consequences.
• Assist in devising strategies to reinforce skills based on student needs.
• Serve as information resource for substitute teachers.
• Attend ongoing professional development sessions (RIDE, PSD, Local Union 1033).
• Perform additional teacher assistant duties as requested.
