Job summary

Ankeny Community School District's Terrace Learning Center in Ankeny, IA seeks a Pre-K Paraprofessional to support teachers and students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, in general and special education settings. You will assist with lesson implementation, small group work, and supervision to promote independence and learning.

The position features an 8:00 AM–2:45 PM schedule (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri), starting immediately, with hourly wage of $17.75.

Qualifications

Associate of Arts degree or two years of college.
Valid Iowa Paraeducator Certificate (extra $0.25/hour for the Iowa BOEE Para Certificate).
Experience working with school-aged children, including those with special needs, preferred.
Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and supporting individual students or small groups.
Provide one-on-one or small group support for students.
Assist with accommodations for students with IEPs, 504 plans, health plans, or other needs.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers on performance and behavior.
Support with instructional technology and platforms as needed.
Model positive behavior and use de-escalation techniques when needed.
Supervise students in various settings and maintain safety.
