Job summary

The Ankeny Community School District seeks a Paraprofessional at Prairie Trail Elementary in Ankeny, IA. You will support students with diverse needs under licensed educators, assisting instruction and behavior programs.

Minimally, a high school diploma is required; Iowa Paraeducator Certificate preferred. The role runs 7:30 AM to 3:15 PM with a wage of $17.75/hour, reporting to the Building Principal. This is a full-time, non-exempt position focusing on student success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher education preferred for advancement.
• Valid Iowa Paraeducator Certificate preferred (extra $0.25/hour with Para Certificate).
• Experience with school-aged children, including those with special needs, preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate patience, flexibility, and commitment to student learning.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate as part of a team.
• Reliability in attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers by supporting individual students or small groups.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students.
• Adapt instruction and accommodations for IEPs, 504 plans, health plans, or other needs.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
• Support students using instructional technology and platforms.
