The Art Farm NYC is seeking an experienced Pre-K Lead Teacher to lead an afterschool classroom for preschool-aged children in Lower Manhattan. The role involves guiding daily routines, planning developmentally appropriate activities, and supervising children with support from an Assistant Teacher and program leadership.

You will create a warm, organized, and engaging space, manage transitions, and communicate with families and staff.

Responsibilities

About the Role

The Art Farm NYC is seeking an experienced and dependable Pre-K Lead Teacher to lead an afterschool classroom for preschool-aged children.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in Pre-K, preschool, daycare, Head Start, early childhood education, or another structured classroom environment who enjoys creating a warm, organized, and engaging space for young children.

The Lead Teacher is responsible for guiding the daily classroom routine, leading developmentally appropriate activities, supervising children, supporting social-emotional development, and working closely with an Assistant Teacher and program leadership.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with Pre-K or preschool-aged children.
• Experience leading a classroom, group, camp, or early childhood program strongly preferred.
• Background in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
• Strong classroom-management and communication skills.
• Ability to create structure while remaining patient, nurturing, and flexible.
• Comfortable working with young children who may need additional support with transitions, emotions, toileting, or other age-appropriate needs.
• Dependable and able to consistently work Monday through Friday during afternoon hours.
• Comfortable collaborating with an Assistant Teacher and program leadership.
