Job summary

Shelby County Schools seeks a classroom support specialist for Early Childhood programs. You will help prepare instructional materials, set up classrooms, supervise students, and reinforce lessons under direct supervision.

You may coordinate special projects and provide assistance to students with special needs. Candidates should have an Associate's degree or 48 semester hours and may need CPR/First Aid certification and CDA within two years.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or two years of college (minimum 48 semester hours) or passing ParaPro Assessment Test with 1 year of experience working with children.
• Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must be able to obtain the CDA within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and preparing classrooms for activities.
• Supervise and assist children in the classroom and other school areas.
• Reinforce classroom lessons and provide other assistance as requested; may coordinate special projects and programs.

Education

Associate's degree or 2 years college

CPR and First Aid certification

Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) within 2 years
