Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, NC seeks a Pre-K Assistant to support the classroom teacher, supervise students, and reinforce learning concepts across instructional activities.

The position requires CDA credential with either pursuing an associate or bachelor degree in related fields; experience in early childhood is preferred. Duties include assisting with materials, attendance, and transportation.

Formación

• CDA credential required.
• Pursuing six semester hours per year toward an associate degree in childcare/early childhood education or related field.
• Pursuing six semester hours per year toward a bachelor’s degree in birth-kindergarten or related field.
• Early childhood setting experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, etc.
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
• Discuss assigned duties with the classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
• Observe student performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
• Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using agreed upon methods of delivery.
• Assist with checking materials and portfolios, correcting papers, supervising, and testing as requested by the teacher.
• Assist in keeping classroom learning centres clean.
• Assist with student attendance procedures, record keeping, and organizing classroom learning spaces.
• Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations for their assigned classroom(s).
• Participate in the daily bus, car and van transportation duties involving children’s arrival and departure to and from schools.
• Participate in professional development workshops.
• Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
