Job summary

Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in Nashville is seeking a Paraprofessional to work with a classroom teacher to implement supports and services for students. You will collaborate with teachers and students on academics, behavior and logistics, encouraging independence and active engagement.

Incumbents may be assigned to 1 to 2 students. If that student moves to another school, the ParaPro may move with them. If not, continued employment depends on the district's business needs.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 48 credits or Praxis certification required.
• Prior experience working with children preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group instruction under supervision of certificated staff.
• Model positive social interactions and be a role model for students.
• Assist in personal care of students (feeding, diapering, lifting).
• Monitor and record student behavior and/or academic performance as directed.
• Engage and supervise students during all daily activities.
• Support arrival, dismissal, lunch and other activities as assigned.
• Assist with implementing IEPs, safety plans and behavior interventions.
• Participate in professional development to support special populations.
