Job summary

The Mice Groups, Inc. is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to drive the mechanical revenue in its Southern California division beyond $100 million annually.

The role leads project procurement, sales, preconstruction and HVAC estimating collaboration and supports the HVAC project management team through the life of projects. You will oversee budgets, risk, and design packages, coordinating with estimators, project developers, and design teams to deliver value engineering and successful project

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the construction industry, preferably within mechanical subcontracting operations.
  • Strong knowledge and proven experience of mechanical systems.
  • Experience with operations, estimating, construction and overall business units.
  • Ability to build trust and influence others internally and externally.
  • Proven success managing preconstruction for wide range of relevant projects, managing teams, and leading by example.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCad or Revit, Project Scheduling software, and ERP software like COINS, JDEdwards, SAP, Timberline or Viewpoint.
  • BS/MS in Construction Management or similar experience preferred.

  • Develop and maintain client, industry, and community relationships that are mutually beneficial and will directly translate to client retention and new business acquisition in project pursuits
  • Lead and collaborate with Project Development on project pursuits with a focus on HVAC
  • Coordinate with Estimating and Project Development on cost estimates, contract and procurement strategies, and construction planning
  • Formulate budgets for potential projects and assist in reviewing bid proposals and estimates before submittal
  • Provide value engineering solutions considering cost, schedule, maintenance, and life cycle cost implications
  • Prepare basis of designs, system concepts / designs, cost estimates, and construction design documents
  • Refine construction scopes of work and design packages during development phases; coordinate with both internal and external design teams toward project deliverables
  • Attend and lead Client’s project team for all design and coordination meetings for assigned projects
  • Manage and maintain all documentation/deliverables, presenting them to project owner in organized manner
  • Maintain a value-add approach to preconstruction
  • Attend job walks and in-person meetings with clients, design teams, subcontractors, vendors and other project personnel as required
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of budget control during the preconstruction phase of the project
  • Manage all aspects of risk of projects and work with the operations team to mitigate potential risks for construction execution
  • Attend relevant industry events and represent Client in a professional capacity
  • Attend weekly sales meetings and contribute to the company’s strategic planning of project pursuits in all locations
  • Grow our HVAC business organically through exceeding existing client expectations and support Business Development activities through relationships and seeking out new industry business opportunities, markets and development

Summary

The Preconstruction Manager is a key contributor in driving the mechanical revenue in Client’s Southern California division beyond $100 million annually. Additionally, your leadership and management will be instrumental in the continuing mechanical gross margin increase year over year. Leading and participating in project procurement, sales, preconstruction and HVAC estimating collaboration. You will also be relied upon as a resource for the HVAC project management team, project support and client management through the life of projects.
