Job summary

Rising Edge Group in Dallas is seeking a seasoned Preconstruction Manager to lead the early phase of large-scale electrical projects, coordinating budgets, schedules and risk management to set a solid execution foundation.

You will collaborate with clients, designers, and subcontractors, develop robust preconstruction documents, and drive proactive communication to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in preconstruction, construction or project management.
  • Experience in electrical or utility construction is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% across North America.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Director of Preconstruction, the Preconstruction Manager is responsible for the execution of the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring all aspects of project planning, risk management, design deliverables, vendor and subcontractor coordination are executed effectively. The Preconstruction Manager will support efforts in developing project budgets and schedules while collaborating closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to achieve project objectives. This role is critical in the success of a construction project by setting a solid foundation for effective execution.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Lead the preconstruction process, from initial project conception through to construction kickoff.
  • Develop the project strategy including project budgets, schedules and risk management plans by analyzing project plans, specifications, and related documents.
  • Coordinate and facilitate pre-bid meetings, ensuring all team members and stakeholders are informed and aligned.
  • Collaborate with the design team to review design documents and ensure alignment with client expectations and project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on project progress and preconstruction activities.
  • Identify potential risks to the project and develop mitigation strategies
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier relationships to optimize cost-effective solutions for project needs.
  • Select and contract with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepare and present detailed preconstruction reports summarizing project scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Review contract terms and conditions and ensure compliance
  • Assist in post-bid activities, including the negotiation with contractors and suppliers.
  • Support continuous improvement in processes relating to estimating, budgeting, and project planning.
  • Responsible for maintaining existing client relationships and developing new client relationships based on the direction of the business plan.
  • Support all Divisions in the organization as it pertains to securing work. This includes travel to the regional offices as required

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in preconstruction, construction and/or project management role
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field
  • Experience in electrical or utility construction projects is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Highly proficient in Estimating and Scheduling Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to interpret contracts
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Applicant must be able to travel throughout North America. Approximately 20% travel is anticipated.
