Job summary

Gray Construction, Inc is seeking an Estimator I for our Birmingham, AL office. The role focuses on supporting pre-construction efforts, developing cost estimates, and coordinating with subcontractors to ensure pricing accuracy.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience. Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office is expected, with a preference for experience on large-scale non-residential projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college. Two years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination.
• Proficient in standard business and pre-construction software tools, including document preparation, spreadsheets, email, and estimating applications.
• Experience with large-scale, non-residential construction projects is preferred.
• Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

• Supports pre-construction efforts on assigned pursuits and projects, assisting with estimating, quantity takeoffs, scope development, and pricing analysis.
• Develops accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing inputs, and estimate backups.
• Assists with budgets, documenting assumptions, and identifying questions for review.
• Coordinates with internal teams to support constructability, phasing, and pricing accuracy.
• Assists with trade partner outreach and proposal reviews, confirming scope alignment and highlighting discrepancies.
