Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a staff member to handle prior authorization for medical, surgical, and diagnostic services. The role ensures efficient service delivery and maximizes reimbursement via payer interactions.
40 hours per week; non‑patient facing with a normal desk environment. Requires a high school diploma; associate degree preferred. Prior experience in clinical office billing or HIM is expected.
The position performs prior‑authorization services to ensure medical/surgical and diagnostic/ancillary services are accomplished in an efficient manner and that reimbursement is maximized through required interaction with payers.
40 hours per week.
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
No specific certification or professional license is required for this position.
Clinical Office, Medical Billing, Health Information Management (HIM), or Pre‑Certification (3 years).
A driver's license is not required for this position.
Associate degree.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC); Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) – American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
