Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Grants Contracts Negotiator to support proposal development, budgeting, agreement negotiation, and award setup. The role ensures timely, compliant submissions and oversees pre-award operations to establish consistent workflows for tracking and managing proposals, supporting our growing research portfolio.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in contract negotiation or research administration.
• Experience reviewing, negotiating, and administering research-related agreements.
• Knowledge of 2 CFR 200, CFR, FAR, and data sharing requirements.
• Experience with NSF, NIH, DOE, DOD, and other federal sponsors.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• May be responsible for new account setup.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates pre-award policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance.
• Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit and liaises with partners.
• Works with researchers and prepares budgets, proposals, and agreements for sponsor consideration.
• May review and negotiate agreements on behalf of the unit.
• May supervise activities of research administration staff.
