Quest Diagnostics Inc. is hiring a Pre-Analytical Assistant I for the Pittsburgh, PA location. The role operates Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.

The position includes a pay range starting at $17.75 per hour with potential shift differentials of 10% for some second-shift hours and 15% for third-shift hours. The role supports the Technical Operations Department, focusing on specimen handling, processing, and documentation to ensure timely and accurate test results.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates ability to learn the job duties assigned and understands how Tech Ops and Specimen Processing interact.
• Meets quality and production standards within 6 months of training.
• Completes required written documentation clearly and on time.
• Punctuality and attendance support department performance.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an ability to learn the job duties assigned to the Pre-Analytical Assistant I and develops understanding of Tech Ops and Specimen Processing.
• Identifies problems with specimen types, missing information, and sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage; resolves or forwards information for timely resolution.
• Understands compliance policies related to test ordering and researches order information on translation tables, systems, and directory of services.
• Meets quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
• Completes all required written documentation so it is understandable, legible, and timely.
• Reports to work on time and follows attendance guidelines; supports the department in coworker absences.
• Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to progress to the next level.
• Performs other duties as assigned (not exhaustive).

Pay range: Minimum of $17.75+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Pre-Analytical Assistant I is responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an ability to learn the job duties assigned to the Pre-Analytical AssistantI, anddevelops an understanding of how all the functions in Tech Ops and Specimen Processing work together and how they impactTechnicaldepartments and result quality.
• Identifies problems with specimen types, missing information, etc.,with regard tosorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage of specimens;is able toresolve or forward information in support of timely problem resolution.
• Demonstrates an understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering, which requires developing ability to research test order information on translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services.
• Meets quality and productionstandards within 6 months of completing training.
• Completes all required written documentation such that it is understandable to others, legible and within the assigned time frame.
• Reports to work ontime, andfollows attendance guidelines; supports the department's performance in the event of coworker absences.
• Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to allow timely progression to the next level.
