Job summary

USPIMedical Park Tower Surgery Center is seeking a Pre-Admissions Testing RN to join our team. The role involves coordinating nursing care, assessing data, and planning patient care in collaboration with the patient/family and interdisciplinary teams.

The Pre-Admissions Nurse conducts pre-op assessments, initiates IVs, administers meds, and ensures accurate documentation while supporting patients and families through the pre-operative process.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in a hospital setting; perioperative setting preferred.
  • Currently hold an unrestricted license in Texas.
  • BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive care in the pre-operative phase.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-op assessments (history, meds, allergies).
  • Initiate IVs, administer meds, ensure pre-op documentation.
  • Reinforce pre-operative instructions and provide emotional support.
  • Communicate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow RNs for coordinated care.
  • Maintain infection control, med safety, and patient safety standards.
  • Ensure pre-op documentation and consents are completed before surgery.
  • Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition prior to surgery.

Job description

USPIMedical Park Tower Surgery Center is seeking a motivated Pre-Admissions Testing RN to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in General, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Urology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Job Description

The Pre Admissions Nurse is responsible for the teamwork and coordination of nursing care to include the collection and analysis of assessment data in determining nursing diagnosis, identification of expected outcomes and development of plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members as appropriate. The Pre Admissions Nurse identifies interventions to attain expected outcomes, implements the interventions identified in the plan of care, evaluates the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes, and documents the process. This care includes sensitivity to age specific and unique needs of the patient/family.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to any changes in patient condition prior to surgery

Qualifications

  • BLS required upon hire; ACLS and PALS preferred.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
  • Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
  • General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for the perioperative setting.
  • Professional communication required to be able to interact effectively with patients, their families and consulting medical professionals.
