UC San Diego Health is seeking a collaborative Practice Supervisor to oversee the daily administrative and operational functions of CIM and IBH. You will supervise clinic operations staff, ensure efficient workflows, compliance, and a patient‑centered approach.

The role reports to the Associate Director of Faculty Primary Care and covers patient registration, scheduling, revenue cycle support, and facilities coordination. Strong HR, communication, and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience providing interdepartmental collaboration and operational support.
  • Experience supervising support staff in clinic/center administration and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of practice operations, patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, applicable information systems, patient service standards, and regulatory requirements.

Description

UC San Diego Health is seeking a collaborative, results-oriented Practice Supervisor to oversee the daily administrative and operational functions of our Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM) and Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) departments.

This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Faculty Primary Care and provides direct supervision of clinic operations staff, ensuring efficient workflows, exceptional patient service, regulatory compliance, and a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Under the direction of the Associate Director, the Practice Supervisor coordinates day-to-day clinic operations, manages staff performance and development, implements process improvements, and partners with clinicians and leadership to support high-quality, patient-centered care. The role oversees key administrative and clinical support functions, including patient registration, scheduling, insurance authorizations, medical records, revenue cycle support, facilities coordination, and medical assistant operations. As required, the Practice Supervisor also collaborates with interdepartmental leaders and provides operational support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Solid interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.
  • Skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey complex administrative, clinical, and technical information clearly and concisely, and to produce a variety of reports and analyses.
  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic/center operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in Integrative Medicine and/or Integrated Behavioral Health.
  • Completed Lean Healthcare Green Belt certification course.
  • Project management or process improvement experience.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $73,800 - $131,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.34 - $62.84

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
