Job Description

LOCATION: Lancaster, PA

HOURS: Mon-Fri, varied between 6:30am and 5:00pm, with rotation between the health campus and Lititz. No weekends or holidays.

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide nursing services to patients at a provider’s office, including care for geriatric patients (over 64 years).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides clinical advice by phone/electronic correspondence based on clinical judgments and triage protocols, consulting with providers as necessary.
  • Provides patient education on preventive care, chronic disease management, medications, and other relevant topics.
  • Prepares patients for visits using appropriate rooming standards.
  • Administers injections and medications as prescribed, following protocols and standards.
  • Assists with procedures, minor surgeries, and exams as designated by providers.
  • Performs Point of Care Testing (e.g., hearing, flu, urine, strep tests).
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.
  • Authors prescription refills as instructed.
  • Tracks and monitors test results.
  • Removes sutures and changes dressings as needed.
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked and cleaned, and maintains medical instruments.
  • Assists with care plan reviews, patient progress assessments, and follow-ups.
  • Participates in outreach for preventive and chronic care services.
  • Coordinates tests, referrals, education, and community resources.
  • Engages in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in daily provider huddles.
  • Acts as a patient experience advocate, maintaining professionalism and customer service.
  • Handles patient information confidentially.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS include front office responsibilities, regional travel, on-call duties, and other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an LPN or RN program.
  • Current RN or LPN licensure issued by PA State Board of Nursing.
  • AHA CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to travel regionally to multiple sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years of nursing experience in primary or specialty care.
  • Experience in triage, emergency, cardiac, ICU, or related fields.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Exposure to biohazardous waste and bloodborne pathogens.
