A day in the life of a Practice Manager:
  • Manage, coordinate, and direct the overall operational activities of assigned department(s), including multiple sites (West Des Moines, Johnston, Urbandale).
  • Work closely with physicians and administrative directors to maintain high-quality, cost-effective services.
  • Hire, orient, supervise, evaluate performance, discipline, and terminate staff.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations affecting the clinic.
  • Participate in strategic and long-range planning.
  • Promote a positive, professional image of the organization internally and externally.
  • Enhance your knowledge through professional associations, journals, workshops, in-services, etc., to stay updated on potential issues affecting the clinic.
  • Remain current on applicable laws and regulations, and recognize implications for the clinic, implementing or recommending courses of action to ensure compliance.
Practice Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a healthcare-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a medical setting preferred.
