Job summary

Locust Valley Veterinary Clinic in Locust Valley, NY, is seeking a hands-on Practice Manager to lead our small-animal team and partner with the Managing Veterinarian to oversee daily operations and improve workflow. This role emphasizes a supportive culture, team development, and an outstanding client experience.

Experience in a veterinary hospital, strong clinical knowledge, and leadership skills are essential. LVT licensure is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic.
  • Strong veterinary assistant or technician skills and clinic workflow knowledge.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Are you an experienced veterinary professional ready to take the next step in your leadership career? Locust Valley Veterinary Clinic, a proud 2-Time Innovetive Petcare Culture Award Winner, is looking for a compassionate, collaborative, and hands-on Veterinary Practice Manager to help lead our exceptional team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing leadership with patient care and believes that a thriving hospital starts with a supported team and an outstanding client experience. While LVT licensure is not required, candidates should have previous veterinary hospital experience, strong clinical knowledge, and a passion for developing people and creating positive hospital culture.

As our Veterinary Practice Manager, you'll partner closely with the Managing Veterinarian and hospital leadership to oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice while serving as a visible, supportive presence for the team.

This is a true hands-on leadership role where you'll have the opportunity to:

You Will Love
  • Oversee daily operations of a small animal veterinary clinic.
  • Support hospital workflow, scheduling, and team coordination.
  • Assist on the floor with patient handling, restraint, and workflow support as needed.
  • Partner with the MDVM to manage staffing, scheduling, and performance.
  • Help drive client experience initiatives and client service standards.
  • Support administrative functions, including payroll coordination, inventory oversight, and hospital procedures.
  • Coach, support, and mentor team members.
  • Identify process improvements and help optimize hospital efficiency.
  • Act as a bridge between leadership and the hospital team.
You Will Bring
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic (required).
  • Strong Veterinary Assistant or Technician skills: patient handling, assisting doctors/techs, treatment support, and clinic workflow.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary clinic operations and hospital flow.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and calm under pressure.
  • Experience with practice management software is a plus.
  • LVT license welcome but not required.
