Job summary

Langan is seeking a Practice Leader– Environmental in Kansas City to oversee and grow the Environmental Practice, identifying projects, directing proposals, and supervising field investigations and lab analyses.

You will manage diverse teams, coordinate with clients and offices, ensure rigorous data analysis, and deliver compliant, practical solutions while advancing the firm's regional presence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Science; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of practical experience with environmental investigations and remediation projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of EPA, CERCLA, and RCRA regulations.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Strong people, project, and client management skills.
  • Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software.
  • Excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification and pursuit of new clients and opportunities; develop work within existing projects and participate in business development.
  • Provide oversight and management of junior staff, coach and train Environmental project personnel, participate in hiring.
  • Manage and deliver multiple projects within budgets and schedules.
  • Perform complex analyses for portions of environmental projects; ensure data collection and lab analyses are accurate and timely.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and office staff; supervise field activities and reporting.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Practice Leader– Environmental to join its collaborative team in Kansas City. This individual will serve a key function in overseeing and driving the growth of Langan's Kansas City Environmental Practice identifying and managing environmental/engineering projects and proposals, conducting engineering research and analysis, and supervising field investigations and laboratory analysis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage Langan’s robust technical expertise and leadership presence in the Kansas City market, manage diverse projects, and fuel the further expansion of an innovate and industry‑renowned practice.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the identification and pursuit of new clients,develop additional work within an existing project and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients;
  • Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments. Coach, train, and motivate staff assigned to Environmental projects. Participate in interviewing and hiring staff;
  • Management of junior staff, senior staff, and project managers;
  • Manage and deliver on multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines;
  • Perform complex analyses for specific portions of broader engineering and environmental projects;
  • Interface effectively and professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors, and others;
  • Supervise field activities and ensure correct interpretations of findings. Ensure that data collection and laboratory analyses are completed correctly, within budget, and on time;
  • Effectively organize, write, and edit reports, draft proposals, and other documents;
  • Coordinate other work groups within the same or different office locations and/or within the same or different disciplines on an as‑needed basis; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
