Responsibilities

• Develop growth plans with regional leadership and manage staff utilization.
• Demonstrate expertise in land development, geotechnical and environmental integration.
• Lead site/civil design from concept through completion, including grading, drainage, and infrastructure.
• Design and oversee layouts for residential, institutional, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Practice Leader – Civil Engineering to spearhead the firm’s growth in Columbus, OH. This individual will play a key role in the continued expansion of our Midwest operations, serving as a growth engine within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a cross‑functional team with the support of executive leadership and an established portfolio of diverse, high‑profile projects. This is an entrepreneurial leadership position focused on driving business development, strengthening client relationships, and growing a strong local presence.

Job Responsibilities

• Leverage an entrepreneurial demeanor to drive Business Development activities by developing new clients for the firm and maintaining relationships with existing clients;
• Work closely with regional leadership to develop growth plans and ensure staff utilization;
• Demonstrate experience in all aspects of land development engineering including the integration of geotechnical and environmental engineering;
• Lead site/civil efforts on a variety of project sites including the ability to design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept through completion;
• Design and permit residential, institutional, commercial centers, warehouse distribution centers, and mixed‑use projects for both public and private clients;
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;
• 15+ years of successful, local and related site/civil engineering experience with a concentration in land development on both small and large projects;
• Professional Engineering license;
• Strong client development and client management abilities;
• Site/civil experience on a variety of project sites including the ability to design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept through completion;
• Proficiency of AutoCAD or Civil 3D preferred;
• Active participation in professional organizations;
• Experience in technical and proposal writing;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
• Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
