Desjardins Group is seeking a risk management professional to ensure compliance and monitor practices across Ontario's service centers. The role involves strategic project development and leadership, serving as a subject matter expert while collaborating with various functions within the organization. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and significant experience, with bilingual proficiency in French and English.

The incumbent is responsible for monitoring risk management practices applied within the teams of the Fédération and the Desjardins Ontario Credit Union (DOCU), in alignment with applicable Ontario requirements. They will work closely with the Operations and Risk Control VPs for both Personal and Business sectors, as well as with support functions across the organization (IT, Finance, etc.). They may request changes to activities or deliverables to ensure compliance with Ontario-specific requirements. The incumbent is involved in all major projects for the CDO and must present risk assessments and recommendations to governance bodies and senior management. Given the strategic nature of the role, the individual must demonstrate leadership and influence among various stakeholders and contributors. They are expected to shape their role and develop new approaches that align with those implemented by the Fédération teams. They serve as a subject matter expert and are responsible for the development of their practice. Their recommendations significantly impact the entity’s risk-taking and have a cross-functional reach across all business sectors, including personal banking, business banking, and support functions (IT, Finance, ESG, etc.). More specifically, you will be required to:
Support the director by managing the delivery of expertise related to CDO activities.
Act as a risk expert for the CDO with specialized risk management teams, requiring a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the business domain, the CDO, and the organization.
Develop and prepare risk analyses for strategic projects. Provide opinions or recommendations on highly complex operational and conceptual matters (often multidimensional).
Coordinate business continuity management, incident management, and crisis management. Represent the Ontario caisse alongside other VP representatives (personal, business, etc.).
Lead the integration of first-line-of-defense reporting to the component’s governance bodies (1B summary report).
Interpret regulatory expectations. Adapt frameworks to Ontario regulations and market realities.
