Practice Innovation Attorney | Legal AI & Workflow Transformation | Up to $300K Base

I'm partnering with a highly regarded national law firm on multiple newly created Practice Innovation Attorney positions for attorneys who want to help define what the practice of law looks like in an AI-enabled world.

These are not traditional IT, knowledge management or legal operations roles.

The firm is looking for practicing attorneys who understand sophisticated legal work firsthand and can combine that experience with generative AI, agentic tools, workflow automation and emerging legal technology to fundamentally improve how attorneys work.

The opportunities span both complex contested matters/litigation and patent prosecution & counseling, with each person embedded closely alongside the relevant practice.

The Opportunity

You'll serve as the bridge between practicing attorneys, practice leadership, clients and technology teams, identifying where AI and automation can meaningfully improve legal workflows and then helping turn those ideas into production-ready solutions.

Your work will include:

• Reimagining complex litigation, contested-matter and/or patent prosecution workflows using GenAI, agentic AI and automation
• Identifying high-value use cases and leading pilots, proofs of concept and implementation
• Working directly with attorneys to understand how legal work actually gets done, then designing better ways to do it
• Building and operationalizing AI-ready knowledge systems, playbooks, model documents, decision trees and reusable work product
• Evaluating emerging legal technologies, vendors and build-versus-buy opportunities
• Becoming an expert-level user of GenAI and agentic tools, while training attorneys on prompting, workflow automation and effective AI utilization
• Partnering with technology, security and legal teams around confidentiality, data governance, ethical obligations and responsible AI deployment
• Driving adoption and securing buy-in from attorneys with widely varying levels of technology experience
• Representing the firm's innovation capabilities in client conversations, pitches, proposals and AI-related questionnaires

Who They're Looking For

This is an opportunity for someone who is an attorney first, but unusually passionate about technology and innovation.

You'll need a Juris Doctor and state bar admission, along with meaningful experience practicing within a law firm.

Particularly compelling backgrounds include:

• Complex commercial litigation or contested matters, ideally involving intellectual property
• Patent prosecution and counseling
• Legal innovation, knowledge management or practice innovation
• Hands-on experimentation with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, agentic coding tools or legal-specific AI platforms
• Building or redesigning legal workflows using AI and automation
• Evaluating and implementing emerging legal technology
• Translating between lawyers and highly technical stakeholders
• Training attorneys and driving adoption of new ways of working

For the patent prosecution-focused opportunity, registration to practice before the USPTO is required.
