Job summary

O'Melveny & Myers LLP seeks an Attorney Professional Development Manager – Practice Group Talent Support in Newport Beach. You will partner with firm leaders to drive talent development, mentoring programs, and leadership academies, shaping a culture of excellence and client service across practice groups.

Ideal candidates have a J.D. and 5+ years in a global law firm, strong communication, organizational, and coaching skills, and a track record in professional development.

Qualifications

• J.D. preferred.
• 5+ years' experience in a global law firm preferred, with involvement in training, review processes, mentoring, and other professional development programs.
• Professional demeanor and effective oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, problem solving, and multitasking.
• Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills; ability to tailor written work to audience.

Responsibilities

• Work with Department Heads, Practice Group Leaders, and Partners to foster Associates and Counsel engagement and prepare high-level client service.
• Build relationships with Partners, Associates, and Counsel across practice groups through regular communication.
• Support career development for Associates and Counsel, including onboarding, mentoring programs, and transitions.
• Collaborate on talent reviews, bonuses, and staffing with Talent Development leadership.
• Monitor Associate and Counsel utilization and promote effective staffing and development opportunities.
• Assist with hiring needs assessment, lateral hiring requests, and management approval processes.
• Identify performance concerns and coordinate with leadership to address them and provide timely feedback.
• Develop and implement substantive legal and professional skills training programs.
• Assist curriculum design for Leadership Academies; coordinate DE&I and wellbeing initiatives in trainings and processes.
• Work with other Talent Development teams to implement firmwide projects and share best practices.
