Job summary

Porter and Chester Institute in Hamden, CT is seeking an experienced Practical Nursing Program Lead Instructor to mentor students and lead faculty. You will deliver classroom, lab, and clinical instruction while shaping curriculum and program outcomes with an emphasis on clinical judgment and professionalism.

The role requires an active Connecticut RN license, 3+ years of RN experience, a BSN with willingness to pursue an MSN within 4 years, and proven teaching and leadership capabilities;

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in Connecticut.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience as RN.
• Minimum BSN; willing to pursue MSN or related field within 4 years.
• 3 years of classroom teaching experience at the post‑secondary level preferred.
• 2 years of leadership/management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction while serving as a leader, mentor, and resource for faculty and students.
• Teach a minimum of 26 instructional hours per week across classroom, lab, and clinical.
• Lead and mentor faculty to ensure high-quality instruction and a positive student learning experience.
• Bring real-world nursing experience into classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical settings.
• Develop student success and retention strategies to help students graduate successfully.
• Monitor student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Conduct and document faculty observations with coaching and development.
• Ensure curriculum, materials, assessments, and LMS content are aligned with outcomes.
