Job description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) uses practical nursing knowledge and skills to provide patient care based on the patient's condition and treatment plan. The role involves delivering care that is therapeutic, supportive, and individualized, as well as providing education to patients, families, and caregivers to promote health, wellness, and compliance with the care plan.

Qualifications:

Applicants pending completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified U.S. citizens are unavailable, in accordance with VA Policy.
• Education: Graduation from an approved school of practical or vocational nursing, accredited by NLNAC or approved by the relevant State agency.
• Licensure: Full, active, and unrestricted licensure as an LPN/LVN in the U.S. or its territories.
• English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Duties:

• Provide patient care in a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) setting, following the patient's treatment plan.
• Utilize judgment to select procedures and treatments, recognize and record relevant patient information, and ensure work is reviewable by a registered nurse or physician.
• Assist in emergency situations, recognize safety hazards, and support diagnostic procedures and patient education.
• Establish positive relationships with patients and families, respecting privacy and dignity, and incorporate customer service standards into practice.
• Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests, serve as a preceptor, and seek educational opportunities to enhance nursing skills.

• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 0800-1630.
