Job summary

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled. The role focuses on coordinating health screenings, administering medications, and implementing health procedures in a school setting.

You will collaborate with teachers and administration to ensure student health needs are met, maintain health records, and uphold confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Missouri Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Strong ability to coordinate health plans and health screenings within a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement health screenings for students.
• Coordinate and implement special health care procedures as needed.
• Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection control and CPR.
• Administer medications per physician orders.
• Participate in staffing and IEP conferences with health information.
• Oversee SHCP and ensure supplies are available; notify parents for additional needs.
• Lead development and implementation of a comprehensive school health plan.
• Complete required reports on time.
• Collaborate with building administration to maintain a safe, clean environment.
• Maintain CPR instructor certification and basic CPR certification.
• Protect confidentiality of student, parent and staff information.

Salary: $38,208

Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

What you'll do:

• Coordinate and implement a plan for health screenings.
• Coordinate, design and implement special health care procedures.
• Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection control procedures, administering medication, CPR and other in-service as needed.
• Administer medication and other health care procedures according to physician orders.
• Participate in staffing and IEP conferences to provide information on the student's physical and health needs when requested.
• Oversee all SHCP. Make sure they are completed correctly and all necessary supplies are available. Notify parents if additional supplies are needed.
• Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
• Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
• Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an orderly, attractive, safe, clean environment.
• Maintain CPR training instructor certification and basic CPR certification.
• Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff personally identifiable information.

All you need for success:

• Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri.
• Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities preferred.
