Job summary

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled program. The role focuses on health screenings, medication administration, and implementing comprehensive school health plans.

You will collaborate with administrators, participate in IEP conferences, and ensure confidentiality while maintaining safety and health standards for students with special needs.

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri.
  • Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • The position requires a professional license pursuant to state law.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement a plan for health screenings.
  • Coordinate, design and implement special health care procedures.
  • Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection control procedures, administering medication, CPR and other in-service as needed.
  • Administer medication and other health care procedures according to physician orders.
  • Participate in staffing and IEP conferences to provide information on the student’s physical and health needs when requested.
  • Oversee all SHCP. Make sure they are completed correctly and all necessary supplies are available. Notify parents if additional supplies are needed.
  • Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
  • Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an orderly, attractive, safe, clean environment.
  • Maintain CPR training instructor certification and basic CPR certification
  • Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff personally identifiable information.

Salary: $38,208

Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

What You’ll Do
