Wind Whistle Farm is a growing farm and community project in the beautiful hills of Mulmur, approximately 90 minutes north of Toronto.
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and practically minded person to help with a mixture of gardening, property maintenance, landscaping, carpentry and general outdoor projects.
This opportunity could be a particularly good fit for someone who wants to spend the summer in a peaceful rural setting, gain practical experience and live affordably while earning an income.
Our property includes vegetable gardens, forests, a pond, a timber-frame home, an outdoor kitchen, a sauna, a roundhouse, a yurt, cabins and gathering spaces that we are continually improving.
The work is varied and mostly outdoors. Some tasks are physically demanding, so applicants should be comfortable working actively and maintaining a steady pace.
Experience in gardening, farming, landscaping, carpentry, construction or property maintenance is valuable, but formal qualifications are not required.
A driver’s licence and reliable transportation are helpful, although an on-site living arrangement may reduce the need for daily transportation.
Pay is available at up to $25 per hour, depending on your experience, practical ability and the level of responsibility you can take on.
We are also open to a live-and-work arrangement. Accommodation may be available in a cabin, yurt, room or comfortable seasonal structure, depending on availability.
Accommodation would be provided at an agreed weekly rate and deducted from wages. The rate and complete arrangement would be discussed clearly in advance so that both sides understand the hours, wages, accommodation cost and expectations.
Meals may sometimes be shared, although food arrangements would also be discussed in advance.
We are looking for someone dependable, capable and genuinely interested in helping care for and improve a unique rural property.
