Job summary

The City of Liberty, MO is seeking a PR & Communications Manager to lead the PR & Communications team and help tell the City’s story. You will oversee brand, messaging, marketing and public engagement while guiding department operations with a creative, strategic and hands-on approach.

You’ll coordinate with departments, focus on community outreach, and manage content across publications, websites and social channels to support City goals and programs.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in journalism, public relations, business communications or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, business communications or a related field.
• Experience with marketing, public relations, brand management and social media strategy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with project management and/or special event planning.
• Ability to supervise, mentor and develop employees and volunteers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Job description

The City of Liberty is looking for a PR & Communications Manager to help lead the team responsible for telling the City's story and connecting our community with the people, programs and services that make Liberty a great place to live. The work you do here helps residents understand their City, connects people with services and programs, supports City employees and leadership, and builds trust throughout the community.

This is a leadership role with plenty of room to be creative, strategic and hands-on. You'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the PR & Communications Department while working alongside a close-knit team that includes a Tourism Marketing Strategist, Marketing & Special Event Supervisor and a brand-new Content Creator position. Under the direction of our Chief Strategic Communications Officer, you'll help shape the City's brand, messaging, marketing and public engagement efforts.
