Job summary

Mechanix Wear, based in Valencia, CA, is seeking a Product Designer to own the hands-on design journey from concept to prototyping and production handoff. You will balance protective functionality, comfort, durability, and aesthetics while translating briefs and end-user insights into wearable product designs.

Responsibilities include creating original concepts, developing tech packs, and collaborating with pattern makers and overseas partners to ensure manufacturable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Apparel Design, Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of product design experience in technical apparel, PPE, workwear, or safety products.
• Strong sketching and technical drawing skills (hand or digital).
• Proficiency with design software: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; CLO 3D a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create original design concepts, sketches, and technical drawings for new products and updates.
• Translate briefs and end-user insights into wearable product designs.
• Develop tech packs with construction details, materials, fittings, and labeling specs.
• Lead or participate in fit sessions and refine prototypes based on wearer feedback.
