This senior role will own the PPC strategy, set standards, and drive performance across Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising. You'll join the leadership team to shape growth, unlock revenue opportunities, and maintain a high-performance culture while balancing strategic vision with hands-on technical PPC excellence.

Proximity Recruitment are searching for an experienced PPC Director (circa $150,000 + Bonus) to join an ambitious and growing digital agency in California.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially driven PPC professional to take ownership of an established, cohesive and fully remote team of five.

Joining the agency's established leadership team, you’ll set the strategic direction for PPC, establish clear expectations and standards, and drive performance across the department. You’ll play a key role in shaping the agency’s growth, creating revenue opportunities and ensuring the team consistently delivers outstanding results.

We’re looking for a natural leader who can bring people together, set the tone and create a high-performance culture while balancing strategic vision with strong technical PPC expertise.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead, manage and develop a remote team of five PPC & Paid Search specialists.
• Set departmental strategy, expectations, objectives and performance standards.
• Drive accountability, team performance and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Work as a key member of the agency leadership team, contributing to wider business strategy and growth.
• Drive revenue through client performance, account development and new commercial opportunities.
• Provide strategic and technical oversight across Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.
• Ensure campaigns deliver against client objectives, KPIs and commercial targets.
• Establish best practice across campaign management, reporting, optimisation and performance measurement.
• Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to grow existing accounts.
• Develop talent, improve processes and ensure the department operates efficiently and profitably.

The ideal candidate:

• Proven experience in a senior Paid Search & PPC leadership role within a digital agency.
• Strong technical and strategic expertise across Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.
• Experience managing and developing teams, ideally of a similar size.
• A confident leader who can set expectations, establish standards and drive accountability.
• Commercially minded, with a track record of driving revenue and performance.
• Strategic thinker comfortable contributing at senior leadership level.
• Excellent communication skills and experience leading remote teams.
• Someone who leads from the front, inspires others and takes ownership of results.
