Job summary

Kelly Science, Engineering, Technology & Telecom is seeking a Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer for an onsite role in Chelsea, Michigan. The role involves developing calibration solutions and performing diagnostic verification testing with annual travel to hot/high altitude areas.

The candidate will manage CARB-compliant OBD calibrations, identify hardware requirements, and provide regular project reports. A Bachelors in Engineering and 0–3 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience (recent graduates with data acquisition experience are encouraged to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Manage all technical aspects of the OBD diagnostic calibrations to meet CARB regulations.
  • Identify system requirements during system hardware design to insure a robust diagnostic system.
  • Use standard instrumentation toolsets for data acquisition, storage, and analysis, calibrate diagnostic thresholds to meet CARB regulations.
  • Provide regular overview summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections.

Job description

Location: (ONSITE) - Chelsea, Michigan (48118) – Travel once or twice per year to Hot and High Altitude areas

Type: W2 contract (C2C OR THIRD PARTY arrangements will NOT be considered for this role)

Pay: Negotiable depending on direct-related experience UP to $31.25 - $33.65 an hour ($65K - $70K/year)

Work Authorization: Must be currently in the United States with active employment authorization documents without current sponsorship transfer requirements. Sponsorship is unavailable for this role.

The Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing best practice calibration solutions and performing diagnostic verification testing.

Duties Include
  • Manage all technical aspects of the OBD diagnostic calibrations to meet CARB regulations
  • Identify system requirements during system hardware design to insure a robust diagnostic system
  • Use standard instrumentation toolsets for data acquisition, storage, and analysis, calibrate diagnostic thresholds to meet CARB regulations
  • Provide regular overview summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience (recent graduates with data acquisition experience are encouraged to apply).
Experience with
  • MATLAB
  • Simulink
  • Reading and understanding C code/software
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Data acquisition experience, preferably in an automotive or powertrain-related environment.
Experience with
  • INCA
  • ETAS tools
  • Internship, co-op, academic project, or hands-on experience involving data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Exposure to powertrain, engine systems, diagnostics, or vehicle testing environments.
