Job summary

Medxcel is hiring for a Building Maintenance role at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. This is a full-time, day-shift position within the Facilities department, focused on the safe and reliable operation of hospital power and utility systems.

The role requires coordination of daily plant activities, routine maintenance, and thorough documentation to support uptime and safety. A High School Diploma or equivalent, plus a relevant license or trade school training, and about 5 years of

Responsibilities

How you’ll make an impact in this role


  • Controls, starts, and shuts down primary and auxiliary power plant equipment—including boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, and compressors—using control boards and sequential switches.

  • Monitors meters, gauges, and computer systems at established intervals to regulate power flow, adjust water levels, and detect potential operating problems.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs, such as cleaning, lubricating equipment, and tightening leaking joints, to prevent system failure or deterioration.

  • Documents plant operations by maintaining accurate logs, completing forms, writing equipment malfunction reports, and handling emergency outage communication.

  • Leads team operations by assigning daily work to maximize plant efficiency, assisting with shift scheduling, and training team members on equipment monitoring and maintenance.

  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross-functional teams, participates in informational meetings and workshops, and assists with special projects as assigned.
