Job summary

Medxcel is seeking a skilled Facilities Power Plant Operator to manage and monitor hospital plant equipment at Round Rock, TX. You will oversee boilers, turbines, generators, and pumps, ensuring reliable power and safety while maintaining logs and reports.

The role requires a background in power plant operations, with leadership ability to guide daily shifts, perform preventive maintenance, and participate in cross-functional projects within a healthcare facility.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant license or trade school graduate acceptable.
  • 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor primary and auxiliary power plant equipment.
  • Monitor meters and computer systems to regulate power flow.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Document plant operations with logs and reports; handle outage communications.

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Controls, starts, and shuts down primary and auxiliary power plant equipment—including boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, and compressors—using control boards and sequential switches.
  • Monitors meters, gauges, and computer systems at established intervals to regulate power flow, adjust water levels, and detect potential operating problems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs, such as cleaning, lubricating equipment, and tightening leaking joints, to prevent system failure or deterioration.
  • Documents plant operations by maintaining accurate logs, completing forms, writing equipment malfunction reports, and handling emergency outage communication.
  • Leads team operations by assigning daily work to maximize plant efficiency, assisting with shift scheduling, and training team members on equipment monitoring and maintenance.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross-functional teams, participates in informational meetings and workshops, and assists with special projects as assigned.
