Job summary

Atlas Air Worldwide is seeking a Powerplant Engineer to oversee engineering data, instructions, and technical support ensuring safety, airworthiness, and reliability across ATA chapters 24, 26, 30, 36, 49, 70-80. You will review service bulletins, ADs, and NPRMs, and provide technical disposition guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in a technical field; preferred mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering.
  • 1-3 years of airline/OEM/MRO experience minimum.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred.
  • Proficiency in technical analysis and knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations.

  • Project development, management, and implementation for repairs or alterations.
  • Serve as technical point of contact for troubleshooting assistance.
  • Issue instructions to support operations and return aircraft to service safely.
  • Review OEM SBs and ADs; initiate required engineering documentation.
  • Support investigations for safety, regulatory, and reliability matters.
  • Monitor fleet performance and initiate corrective actions.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, MROs, and regulatory personnel.
  • Establish repair/build specs to enhance dispatch reliability.
  • Administer the Engine Condition Monitoring Program.
  • Review Powerplant portion of maintenance program and update docs.

Position Summary: The Powerplant Engineer reports to the Manager, Powerplant Engineering, and is responsible for the engineering data, instructions, documents, and technical support that economically ensures the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of Atlas Air aircraft within the following ATA chapter subjects: 24, 26, 30, 36, 49, 70- 80.

Major Job Accountabilities
  • Project development, management, and implementation for repairs, modifications, or alterations.
  • Technical point of contact on assigned subject matter for troubleshooting assistance.
  • Issue instructions and documents to economically support operations and return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy, and timely manner.
  • Review OEM Service Bulletins and other regulatory documents such as Airworthiness directives (ADs) and Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) for implementation, and initiates required engineering documentation based on recommended disposition.
  • Provides support on investigations for safety, regulatory, and reliability matters.
  • Monitors Fleet performance and initiates corrective actions and improvements to maintain fleet health.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, repair & overhaul (MRO) facilities, outside engineering departments, regulatory personnel, and other outside agencies.
  • Establish component repair and build specifications to enhance dispatch reliability in accordance with budgetary and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ATA chapters 24, 26, 30, 36, 49, 70- 80
  • Administer the Engine Condition Monitoring Program
  • Review Powerplant portion of the Aircraft Maintenance and Inspection Program, and initiate maintenance program changes and changes to maintenance documents.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in preferred field of Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or other technical equivalent degree
  • 1-3 years of Airline/OEM/MRO experience minimum
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred
  • Proficiency in technical analysis and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations or certification requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Familiarity with aircraft engine systems and components.
  • Knowledge of turbofan and turbine engine operation, dynamics, performance, and build
  • Knowledge of failure analysis or root cause engineering, including metallurgical analysis

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range

$86,500 — $117,000 USD
