Job summary

Irby Construction Company seeks a skilled and dependable Powerline Wire stringing/aerial lift equipment shop mechanic to maintain, repair, inspect, and prepare specialized equipment used in overhead powerline construction and wire stringing operations.

An Aerial Lift/Wire Stringing Equipment Mechanic shall possess the ability to operate/drive any truck, including tractor trailers to support all assigned work activity.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in powerline or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
• Knowledge of safety standards for overhead powerline equipment (OSHA 29 CFR 1910).

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects.
• Maintain and repair tensioners, pullers, reel stands, winches and related equipment.
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment with hoists and hand tools.
• Inspect parts for damage or wear using test equipment and gauges.
• Test overhauled equipment for operating efficiency.
• Plan work procedures using manuals and experience.
• Operate equipment to gain access to mechanical units.
• Perform daily walk-arounds and routine checks.
