Role Qualifications:

A Power Transmission Engineer will be responsible for activities such as site walks, computer modeling, sizing structures, designing foundations, coordinating with survey/geotech/manufacturers, creating bills of materials, communicating with project managers, applying engineering principles, and critical thinking.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
• 4+ years of design experience in the Power industry, consulting background preferred.
• PE Licensure or EIT working towards the PE exam.
• Proficiency in design software, including PLS CADD and AutoCAD.
• Experience with tower structures (pole, lattice, guyed).
• Knowledge of safety codes, utility standards, and regulations (NESC, ASCE, IEEE).
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary project team.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience in developing estimates and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design high voltage (69 kV to 500 kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
• Create comprehensive drawing packages for transmission line systems.
• Participate in site walks for current projects (less than 10% travel).
• Perform computer modeling and sizing of structures and components.
• Coordinate with Survey/Geotech/Manufacturers.
• Prepare engineering drawings from sketches or general information using CAD software.
• Complete drawing production, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations.
• Work on various assignments using prescribed methods and techniques.
• Produce rough designs, sketches, and mark-ups.
• Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects.
• Apply relevant design codes and standards.
• Review and complete design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into designs.
• Organize and maintain project documentation systematically.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
