Job summary

Jobot is seeking a seasoned Power Trader in Houston to drive real P&L on physical and financial power markets. You will operate on a lean, high-caliber desk with autonomy and a discretionary bonus program.

The role offers a strong base salary, broad exposure to ISO markets, and a collaborative trading floor culture. You’ll influence trading strategies, manage risk, and partner with scheduling, risk, and origination teams.

Qualifications

• Experience executing both physical and financial power trades.
• Demonstrated ability to manage P&L within risk limits.
• Strong understanding of ISO/RTO markets and market fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Execute physical and financial power trades across ISO/RTO markets.
• Develop and manage trading strategies for day-ahead, real-time, and forward power markets.
• Monitor weather, load, and generation to inform trading decisions.
• Manage risk and P&L within defined mandates.
• Collaborate with scheduling, risk management, and origination teams on deals.
• Maintain relationships with counterparties and market participants.
• Ensure accurate trade capture, confirmation, and settlement.
• Stay updated on FERC, NERC, and ISO tariffs.

Job Details

• Execute physical and financial power trades across regional ISO/RTO markets
• Develop and manage trading strategies to capture value across day-ahead, real-time, and forward power markets
• Monitor market fundamentals (weather, load, generation, transmission constraints) to inform trading decisions
• Manage position risk and P&L within defined risk limits and mandates
• Collaborate with scheduling, risk management, and origination teams on deal structuring and execution
• Maintain and build relationships with counterparties, ISOs, and market participants
• Ensure accurate and timely trade capture, confirmation, and settlement processes
• Stay current on regulatory developments (FERC, NERC, ISO tariffs) affecting power markets
