POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Retail Supply Trader who is independent, results-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to join a dynamic organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in deregulated retail electricity markets, with a strong focus on Retail Supply Trading. This position is based in Houston, and candidates should be within commuting distance to the Houston office, where the role will be located.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage all retail supply activities in the ERCOT power market, including bilateral purchases and sales, ISO bidding and scheduling, congestion management, and asset optimization across load and generation assets.
• Manage shape/swing risk of the retail load portfolio and optimize embedded optionality of residential solar and storage assets.
• Maintain relevant wholesale and retail price curves, including implied hourly scalers and scarcity premiums.
• Expand relationships with suppliers and brokers to maximize market coverage and trading liquidity.
• Ensure compliance with all risk limits, monitor positions, and review mark-to-market reports.
• Explain supply-related factors impacting retail gross margins.
• Serve as the primary interface to the ERCOT market, providing market insights and tracking regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with the technology team to develop and maintain analytical and operational tools for trading and decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of trading experience in the energy industry, specifically within ERCOT.
• Targeted ISO experience and knowledge of the fundamental grid.
• Proficiency in wholesale electricity market dynamics and ETRM systems.
• Strong understanding of power fundamentals, market rules, and structure.
• Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and deadline management skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship.
