Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Pullman, WA, seeks an Associate Research Engineer to help design, prototype, and document technologies for SEL products.

You will assist engineers in research, write functional specifications, analyze competitors, and contribute to notes, white papers, and conference papers on innovative ideas. You will also protect SEL intellectual property by drafting patent and copyright applications and follow SEL Values and manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power preferred; related or equivalent experience acceptable.
• Knowledge in power system analysis, protection, and stability.
• Experience with EMTP, load flow, and short circuit studies.
• Experience with digital signal processing.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, prototyping, and documenting technologies for SEL products or solutions.
• Assist engineers in research and writing new ideas and functional specifications.
• Analyze competitor products and develop application notes, white papers, and technical reports.
• Protect SEL intellectual property by drafting patent and copyright applications.
• Follow SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
