Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Pullman, WA, seeks an Associate Research Engineer to help design, prototype, and document technologies for SEL products.

You will assist engineers in research, write functional specifications, analyze competitors, and contribute to notes, white papers, and conference papers on innovative ideas. You will also protect SEL intellectual property by drafting patent and copyright applications and follow SEL Values and manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power preferred; related or equivalent experience acceptable.
  • Knowledge in power system analysis, protection, and stability.
  • Experience with EMTP, load flow, and short circuit studies.
  • Experience with digital signal processing.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power preferred, related or equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • Knowledge in one of the following areas:
    • Power system analysis, power system protection, and power system stability
    • Experience with EMTP, load flow, and short circuit studies
    • Experience with digital signal processing
  • Demonstrated excellent writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Willing to travel up to 25%.

Pay Range Data

We anticipate filling this position as an Associate Research Engineer: $84,000 — $124,000. Our compensation ranges are based on the responsibilities of the role. Starting pay is determined individually and considers factors such as relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and training. Candidates may be considered at different levels based on their background. As a result, pay may vary to align with the level of the role.
