Job summary

Patterson-UTI in Houston is hiring a Product Development Engineer, Power Systems to develop, test, deploy, and continuously improve advanced power systems used on drilling rigs, including battery storage and generator management.

You will work with controls and software developers, electrical engineers, data scientists, and operations to validate new functionality, analyze system performance, troubleshoot field issues, and support product deployments. Some travel to rigs will be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering.
2+ years in engineering, controls and automation, power systems, or related field.

Responsibilities

Develop and improve power systems products including battery energy storage systems and generator management.
Translate requirements into specifications, test procedures, and development tasks.
Collaborate with controls/software engineers to develop, test, and troubleshoot new functionality.
Develop lab, simulated, and system-level test plans to verify functionality and performance.
Support field validation, installation, commissioning, testing, and data collection.
Travel to drilling rigs to support deployments and testing.
Analyze data to identify issues, evaluate performance, and recommend improvements.
Create and maintain technical documentation and training materials.
Assist with product releases and ensure testing, installation, and support activities are completed.
