Job summary

The Jupiter Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced IT/OT professional to serve as a technical expert supporting Generation Management System technologies in Houston, Texas.

The role combines power-generation knowledge with real-time operational systems and IT/OT integration experience. You will own GMS architecture, drive deployments, and coordinate with power operations, engineering, cybersecurity, and IT teams to ensure secure, highly available systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Generation Management Systems.
• Experience in power-generation operations (thermal, renewable, cogeneration).
• Experience with real-time OT/IT environments.
• Understanding of interfaces, data flows, and technologies such as APIs, OPC, and messaging.
• Knowledge of ICCP and its application in exchanging real-time power-system information.
• IT networking concepts in OT environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytic skills.
• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language.
• MS Office proficiency and basic project management knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical ownership for GMS architecture and deployment.
• Translate operational requirements into scalable power-system solutions.
• Support generation scheduling, unit commitment, dispatch, and related processes.
• Design and maintain GMS integrations with SCADA, EMS, DMS, historians, and enterprise systems.
• Ensure secure movement of operational data across OT and IT environments.
• Analyze system performance and implement improvements for availability and reliability.
• Collaborate with power operations, engineering, IT, cybersecurity, and other stakeholders.
• Plan upgrades, patches, migrations, testing with operational continuity.
• Investigate complex issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and develop corrective actions.
• Mentor operations and technology teams with best practices.
