Job summary

L & S Electric, Inc. is seeking a Power Systems Specialist to join our team for the Minneapolis region. You will perform ground grid testing, test transformers, relays, breakers, and related equipment, with both team collaboration and independent work.

We offer training and growth opportunities in a dynamic electrical power environment. The role requires hands-on testing, interpretation of protection schemes, and timely reporting, with travel and on-site problem-solving as core duties.

Qualifications

• AA in Electrical Power, EE, or 5+ years field experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to travel up to 5 days/week with overnights as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Effective communication skills and teamwork.
• Experience as a Switchgear/High Voltage Technician.

Responsibilities

• Ground grid testing and medium voltage cable testing.
• Service and test transformers, relays, breakers, switches at substations and facilities.
• Troubleshoot and test control circuits, protections systems and other apparatus.
• Perform breaker and relay retrofits and read prints/control schemes.
• Complete and submit reports accurately and timely.
• Read and plot curves; operate test equipment and software interfaces.
