Hatch in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Project Delivery Group. You will support offices globally from our Pittsburgh office, gaining hands-on experience in power system studies and design calculations.

The role involves assisting engineers with load flow and short circuit analyses, preparing equipment specifications, and learning about instrumentation, controls, and NEC compliance while working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s in electrical or chemical engineering with interest in controls or computer science.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Assist Electrical Engineers in preparing engineering calculations such as load flow analysis and short circuit analysis.
• Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement and construction contracts and write reports for power system studies such as arc flash analysis, protective device coordination, and transient stability studies.
• Acquire knowledge in power distribution systems, instrumentation and controls, switchgear, stand-by power systems, load and fault current calculations, power flow and short circuit analysis, SCADA and telemetry, lighting systems, and NEC code compliance.
• Gain valuable on-site practical experience.
