Job description

We have an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with an Electrical/Power emphasis. This position will conduct analyses, calculations, and develop recommendations associated with electrical system protection concepts.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform protective relay calculations and determine appropriate relay set points.
  2. Perform protective relay coordination studies utilizing short circuit modeling software.
  3. Develop relay setting files utilizing relay vendor software.
  4. Produce relay coordination compliance reports for applicable NERC-PRC standards.
  5. Develop SCADA point list.
  6. Produce communication settings for protective relays.
  7. Generate required client protective relay reports.
  8. Provide Protection and Controls (P&C) support with scheme development and design reviews.
  9. Work independently on tasks and assist senior engineers on larger projects.
  10. Coordinate with other substation project engineers and technicians as needed.
  11. Some travel may be required.
Required Experience and Education
  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; Master’s degree with an Electrical/Power focus preferred.
  2. Knowledge of electrical power system analysis, planning, protective device application, setting, and substation design.
  3. Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  4. Experience with power system analysis software: CAPE, ASPEN, ETAP, CYME, and SKM.
  5. Strong computer skills: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software.
  6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Strong attention to detail, initiative, and self-motivation.
