Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is seeking a Power Systems Engineer II to support real‑time operations and coordinate congestion and transmission activities across regional boundaries. The role emphasizes accurate execution of core Seams processes and collaborative engagement with operators, market personnel, and neighboring RTOs.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or related field, 2+ years of experience, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Two or more years of related work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with complex system data.
  • Excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, and willingness to support a rotating on‑call schedule.
  • Experience with power systems modeling tools such as PSS/e, TARA, MUST, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain core Seams processes (AFC, IDC, NNL, flowgates) with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with MISO Operators, Market personnel, and neighboring RTO counterparts.
  • Contribute meaningfully to at least one improvement initiative, process improvement, or cross‑team project.
  • Communicate effectively and deliver high‑quality work with minimal supervision.
