Job summary

MISO is hiring a Power Systems Engineer II in Little Rock, Arkansas. In this role, you will ensure efficient and reliable transmission coordination across regional boundaries. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, backed by two years of relevant experience.

You will coordinate critical processes and enhance relationships with operators while being eligible for an annual bonus and a robust benefits package starting from day one of employment.

Job description

Power Systems Engineer II

As our Power Systems Engineer II, you will help MISO's Operators and neighboring grid partners perform accurate, reliable congestion and transmission coordination so they can ensure safe, efficient, and predictable realtime system operations across regional boundaries.

Success Indicators

In one year as our Power Systems Engineer II, you will know you're successful if:

  • You can independently coordinate and maintain core Seams processes (AFC, IDC, NNL, flowgates) with accuracy and timeliness
  • You have built strong, trusted relationships with MISO Operators, Market personnel, and neighboring RTO counterparts
  • You have contributed meaningfully to at least one improvement initiative, process enhancement, or cross‑team project
  • You communicate effectively and consistently deliver high‑quality work with minimal supervision
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
  • Two or more years of related work experience
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work comfortably with complex system data, paired with curiosity and adaptability to learn and collaborate across internal and external teams
  • Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the willingness to support a rotating on‑call schedule depending on level

Preferred: Experience with power systems modeling tools such as PSSe, TARA, MUST, or similar platforms.

Salary & Benefits

The base salary compensation range for this role is $84,000.00 - $109,000.00 USD annually. Base salary range is provided in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on location, individual competencies, education, professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.

Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met. A comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), vacation, sick and safe time, is available on your first day of employment.
