Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Power Systems Engineer I to support design, development, and implementation of generator control switchgear systems.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams on retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with experience in PLC/HMI applications and power systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with dealer/factory teams.
• Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling controls.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring/assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to sales and product support centers; escalate as needed.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses on time.
• Train technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
