Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science.
  • Coursework or internship in power systems, power flow or contingency analysis welcome.
  • Exposure to PSSE, PowerWorld, or TARA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct power system analysis to support evaluation of planned outages for LCRA capital projects and maintenance.
  • Support development and validation of power flow cases to be used for studies, including load scaling, weather models, voltage set point adjustments, etc.
  • Review outage metrics and build dashboards that give operators, planners, and leadership a clear, real-time picture of operations performance.
  • Learn and assist with the administration of LCRA's Outage Scheduler, including basic troubleshooting and improvement testing.
  • Conduct resilience studies for storm and extreme-weather preparation, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending contingency plans.
  • Innovate by improving study models, automating study tasks, and building new tools that compose how the grid is operated.
